DecaffeiNATed – the return of nocaffnat


Back in 2012, I gave up caffeine for a week for Sanctuary for Kids.  At the time, whilst giving it up, I thought I was crazy. The withdrawals hit badly and there were times when I quite literally ran off more expletives than any person should ever say in one go.  I swore it would be the only time I did it.  I swore that as much as I love Sanctuary for Kids and as much as Amanda Tapping has provided me with a metaphorical sanctuary over the years I was not going to do it again.  But then the voice in my head started up again with “You can do it again, and maybe this time you can do it for longer.” I’ve been fighting that voice for about 6 months, but I’ve finally caved. Not only have I caved, I’ve done it in a spectacular fashion.

The next Nocaffnat event will be entitled DecaffieNATed. During this attempt not only will I give up caffeine for a week, but for every $50 raised above the $200 raised last time I will add an extra day, up to an extra week.  If $550 is raised, I will do two weeks without caffeine.  Any more than that raised will be a blessing.

The dates are the same as last time, to mark the two year anniversary.  1st to 7th Feb 2014 for the initial week, potentially lasting until the 14th Feb 2014.

If you want to donate, please go to the Sanctuary for Kids site and enter the hashtag #decafeiNATed in the comments box.  Then drop me an email with your receipt (you can blank out your personal details) so I can keep track of all the donations made so I can provide you with a total at the end. (it appears some people are having difficulties with receipts so an email with the confirmation and the total donated will also work).

And just as last time, I’ll be doing a blog the entire time I’m caffeine free, so you can keep up with my progress and many mood swings.

N.B. If anyone has donated for #decaffeiNATed over the past couple of weeks please let me know via dm. There’s been a Gmail glitch. This has now been resolved and the email link is working again.
